This was a 3-week pose for Kent Williams' class. It was absolutely an incredible experience to be around such an inspirational artist.Session 1, block in. Session 2, push and pull. Session 3, refine. This was certainly an interesting and fun process to painting that I plan on exploring further. Next step is to see if I can make it happen again outside of class.

A collaboration piece with mixed media. The exercise was to have each person piece together a story or scene based on an assigned word using a mix of references. The image was passed around to several people to do as they pleased. It was extremely fun and rewarding to see how the piece evolve.

I did this piece for an album cover assignment. I chose the Noisettes, indie rock band from London, to design the logo for. The type design was done with ink pens and a fine brush, then vectorized in Illustrator, and finally colored with Photoshop. It's a really refreshing turn for me to try something that I never would have done if not for the class Expressive Type (with Peter Greco). I'm glad

I avoided oil painting for as long as I could, but it's inevitable once I enter the illustration major. It took me the entire 5-hour class to get to this stage. The tough part was getting the flesh tones right and making the light to emerge using only the primaries plus white. The hair, ear, and neck could've been better but I ran out of time. I started with a random doodle and develop what I have from there. I did this on PS in roughly 4 hours total. I used the same method as I did with the ninja by layering a textured image over the actual painting and paint over it. By doing so, I was able to achieve 'natural' shapes within the existing shapes, which help reduce the stress of thinking about what to put in. Or rather, let the layer

Here's the shinobi version of the samurai I did a while back. I experimented with textures and combining images in this piece, in attempt to achieve a painterly look, using entirely Photoshop. This is something that I've been working on a tiny bit at a time for a long time and and I'm relieved to have finally finish it---or simply stopped. =P

Trying out some new techniques. This is supposed to be an aircraft of some sort. I'm not too familiar with industrial designs, hopefully this is not a bad attempt.

I did these in an art/java chatroom. They turn out ok so I decided to post em. I believe the correct term for this is "oekaki."
